Downtown cafe provides delicious healthy options

Emily Martin

For many of us, including me, 2014 ended with gorging ourselves with holiday cookies and meals, leaving us to make a New Year’s resolution of eating healthier in 2015. I’m sure many of us have already failed, but I found the perfect place to keep the dream alive.

Blenders and Bowls is located on Fourth and Brazos. They offer delicious organic smoothies with local products comparable to Daily Juice or Juice Land, but the real treasure is their bowls. You have a choice of many options, but my personal favorite is the OG bowl. Along the bottom there is a smoothie consisting of Açaí berries, strawberries, bananas and apple juice. They then lay hemp granola on top, which sounds kind of strange, but it is some of the best granola I have ever had. To top it off, a sliced banana and a few sliced strawberries are spread across the bowl and drizzled with local honey. The price of a small bowl starts at $7 and goes up depending on what you add on.

I left amazed at how something that simple could be so delicious. Blenders and Bowls is an extremely healthy option for any fruit enthusiast who wants a delicious lunch that will make their insides happy.

Blenders and Bowls is open on weekdays from 7 AM to 7PM and on weekends from 9 AM to 4 PM.
