Junior varsity girls basketball team starts second half of season

The junior varsity girls basketball team has had a strong start to its season. Out of the 12 games the girls have played, they have won six, their best game being their 72-22 domination of McNeil. Their District record stands at 3-1 with their best tournament being at Pflugerville.

“My favorite memory I have from the first half of the season is getting second at the Pflugerville tournament, because we worked really hard to get there,” guard and post sophomore Marisol Acuna said.

With three sophomores and seven freshmen, the girls are striving to bond and work together as much as possible. One of the team’s goals this season is “encouraging each other on and off the court,” guard freshman Makenzie Mowack said.

With an overall record of 6-6 and about about half of the season left, the girls have the opportunity to reach their goals and improve. Their next game will take place at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at Westlake against Austin High.
