Senior and 2nd Lt. Elizabeth Gabriel performs during the dance department’s Spotlight show in the PAC on Nov. 13.

On Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the PAC, the dance department will be performing their annual Spotlight show. This will be their first performance of the year and they will be showcasing new material. The show includes Hyline, Star Steppers, Dance 1, Dance 2 and Dance 3/4. The Hyline Jazz Company and Funky Company will also be in the production.

“I think people will like the different varieties of style and types of music that all come together to create an entertaining show,” said Hyline Assistant Director Lauren Smith.

This is Smith’s first year directing Hyline, and she is excited to present the dance department to the community.

The Spotlight show is an entertaining production that showcases not only the dance department but TEC as well. The dress attire is casual and the show is typically 45 minutes long. It is a great opportunity to see what the dance department has been working on thus far. With a new director and assistant director of the department, the show will be unique and unlike any other year.

“Spotlight is really fun as a Hyline member because it’s the first time we get to showcase the dances we’ve been working on since two-a-days, and show the community something other than our Friday night football routines,” said senior Sabrina Sanchez.
