Sports gambling column: Week 28

Ever since I got a speeding ticket a few weeks back, I’ve been a little strapped for cash. Also, I only have $32.14 left in my Bovada account, so my money is almost out there too. I’ll admit it — I’ve been on a dreadful losing streak lately. As you probably know by now, the Nets ended up losing in five games to the Sixers, which was a pretty big disappointment to me considering I actually liked watching that series more than any other in the first round of the playoffs. Now, we’re nearing the tail end of the second round, and I haven’t found all that much to bet on. However, if the Warriors end up advancing to the next round, I’ll find a way to bet that they will win in a quick Western Conference Finals against the winner of the Blazers-Nuggets series.

As for the East, I’m probably going to stand pat and hope that my bet that I made a couple of months ago (it was the Raptors winning the conference). Considering how dominant the Bucks have been, that might’ve been just another entry in my series of dumb bets.

For betting this week, I think that the Blazers-Nuggets series will go seven games and that the Nuggets will win game seven in Denver. I’m taking the odds for that to happen at +115, which I think is pretty good considering how loud Portland’s crowd will probably be in tomorrow’s game six and how good Blazers point guard Damian Lillard will probably be. I’m putting $10 on it, and I’ll be back in a week or two.
