Awards were presented to outstanding girls lacrosse players in the Central Texas District at the All-District and All-State levels after the Division One finals game at St. Stephen’s School April 30. Three Westlake players received All-District awards: senior Sarah Thompson and juniors Zoe Solis and Harper Young.

“I was incredibly surprised,” Zoe said. “More than anything I was flattered to have been awarded the same medal as two of the people on the team I still think are much better than me.”

Additionally, the All-State awards were given out.

“The All-State team is a selection of the most accomplished 12 girls from the Central Texas district,” head coach Lauren Fitzgerald said. “It consists of one goalie, three defenders, five midfielders and three attackers.”

Junior Annie Flowers received the All-State attacker award and junior Sarah Tucker received the All-State goalie award.

“I was really surprised that I got All-State because I’m a junior,” Annie said. “But when I got it, I was really excited. It meant a lot to me because, for All-State, the coaches nominate you and then you have to be ‘approved’ by all the other coaches in the [District], which made it that much more special.”
