Right as we arrived, we stepped inside and noticed the beautiful modern cafe: white walls, green plants and brown flooring with black furniture created a welcoming atmosphere. There were few chairs inside, but there were more outside. It was their official first day of opening, and I only had to wait in line behind one person. Scattered throughout the store, I noticed some home decor for sale, and a big refrigerator with a selection of drinks, cakes, salads and little snacks to choose from.
The bakery items were in clear glass by the front desk, and there were so many options that it took me a long time to decide.
I chose between croissants and danishes, and slices of cake and cookies. I was greeted by a very kind woman at the front who was the only one helping the customers at the time. We know the owner, so we were excited to give them business and placed an order.
We started with a huge cinnamon roll, a lemon loaf slice and a sausage and egg muffin. Our total was about $30, which is a little high. The cinnamon roll, my mom and I each took a bite of the gooey messy bun immediately had a sugar rush. The cinnamon roll was so fresh and so sweet, and the cream cheese frosting gave a good balance of flavor. Each bite was a great experience, and the center was obviously the best part.
To balance my sugar high, I had to try the only savory item, which was the sausage and egg muffin. The items were so fresh I had to blow on them before I enjoyed them. The English muffin bread was high quality and soft. I took a bite and was welcomed with an explosion of flavors from the sweet bread, savory sausage patty, the scrambled eggs and cheese that all blended nicely together.
Finally, we decided to try the lemon loaf to end on a sweet note. The woman helping at the front individually cut each slice to serve. The loaf was a nice pale yellow in color, with lemon glaze frosting on top. The homemade slice was perfectly gooey in the middle. When I bit into it, the lemon flavor from the bread and icing was prominent in a delicious way, and the loaf itself was extremely moist.
Overall, the small amount of food items I tried compared to the amount they have were all so good. I would rate the food and overall store a 9/10, only taking one point off because it was very expensive for three items. I had a great time supporting the business and sitting outside to enjoy the nice weather. I can’t wait to try the charcuterie board.
