Eye-catching news articles flood people’s minds as artificial intelligence (AI) becomes extremely relevant, important, and even threatening to society. Some fear the idea of powerful technologies taking over, and others fear the idea of humanity disintegrating into the world of unknown cutting-edge technology.
The cutting-edge film, “The Creator”, is a riveting exploration of the line between future humanity and AI. The two sides were in a crucial war with no mercy involved. Joshua, an ex-special forces agent, is tasked with a mission that challenges our idea of what it means to be a human. Joshua realizes that his human self has to betray his people to finish his mission. He sets off to hunt down the hidden architect of advanced AI known as “The Creator” or “Nirmata” but is confronted with suspense and unexpected twists. The evidential plot twist reveals a completely separate and intriguing point of view from the originally initiated one. It heightens the drama and pushes the boundaries of our collective understanding of AI. The narrative is masterfully tied together, taking viewers into enemy-occupied territory. The blend of AI and human elements, coupled with the high-stakes scenario of a future war, creates a riveting portrayal of coming up that ensures viewers are on the edge of their seats. While the war between humans and AI becomes a massive threat to society, Joshua must attempt to save the world under the extreme pressure of his opponents.
The high-speed action shots combined with the deep and powerful tones of the music and sound effects immerse the viewer in the world of war with the unknown. One of my favorite and most interesting compliments for the movie was each shot of when a missile or bomb was dropped in the action and war scenes. The sound pulls out and there is a moment of silence where you can feel the tension in the theater. Suddenly the military-grade weapon is dropped and the crash is intense and powerful. The whole theater rattles as the moment’s suspense shatters and you’re left with a wondering feeling about what the next move will be.
When walking into the theater I imagined I would be watching an intense action-filled movie with many loud and harsh noises. I got what I expected to an extreme. What I didn’t know I’d be watching was a complex love story in the midst of it all. The protagonist Joshua, while saving the world from its partial civil war, is going to extreme highs and lows to reconnect with his wife he had split from five years previous. He maintained the strong and emotionless until she was mentioned. Having the idea of romance in between the chaotic and severe happenings around it all brings continuous depth and complexities to the storyline.
Although this movie is dystopian and futuristic, AI is still highly impacting us today. Our level of technology today is quickly tying into these themes of the movies that describe the war that came when AI and humans split. This also can give off an eerie feeling as we realize these movies might be the layout for our future.
Overall, “The Creator” is a must-watch film. It’s a gripping tale of humanity’s struggle with artificial intelligence that leaves you pondering everything long after the credits roll. Its blend of suspense, drama, and thought-provoking themes makes it stand out within the dystopian genre. “The Creator” will undoubtedly leave you with a bittersweet feeling in your chest.
