Preparations for Nutcracker Spectacular begin
The 10th anniversary of Westlake’s annual Nutcracker Spectacular is quickly approaching. Featuring dancers from Alisa’s Dance Academy and musicians from the Westlake Symphonic Orchestra, this performance is a great cultural and festive experience for children and adults alike in the Eanes community. The show includes the beautiful music of Tchaikovksy’s The Nutcracker, other timeless Christmas classics, and a breathtaking light show presented by the Technical Entertainment Crew.
“I like being able to combine with the orchestra to perform and create music that everybody knows,” french horn player senior Connor Gunn said.
Cello player senior Pamela Horton will be performing with the symphonic orchestra for her third consecutive year.
“I like the sense of community that the Nutcracker Spectacular provides, and the opportunity to collaborate with my peers to create art,” Pamela said.
The dancers have already begun preparation for the show, and senior Ellie Edwards will once again reprise her role as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Shows will take place in the Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Dec 11 and 13, 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 12, and 3 p.m. on Dec. 14. Purchase tickets online at whstec.com.
