Chaps take on Tigers for area championship

The Westlake football team takes on the A&M Consolidated Tigers for the Area Championship at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco. The game will mark the second time the two teams have played this year, and the fourth time the teams have played since the beginning of the 2012 season. The Chaps beat the Tigers 38-32 in September, rallying from an 18-point deficit to secure their second victory of the season. Last year, the teams met twice, and split the season series, after Consolidated won 17-35 in September, and then Westlake ended the Tiger’s season with a 45-2 win in the Area Playoffs.

This year, Consolidated is 8-2, with losses to The Woodlands and Westlake. They’ve won five straight since their loss to The Woodlands on Oct. 4. They defeated a 7-3 Kingwood team 55-45 in the Bi-District Round. Maxpreps.com has them ranked 46th in the state, 12 spots ahead of Westlake.
