TedxYouth approaches

Get ready to share ideas, socialize and explore at the fourth annual TedxYouth. The event is happening from 1 to 5 p.m. Feb.13 in the Performing Arts Center.

“TedxYouth is like Tedx but for teenagers,” photography co-lead junior Amaya Mali said. “It’s an event where the youth get to experience what the adults see and they get to hear speakers and feel inspired. They also have labs where people can create and see more innovations. It’s [a place to] share ideas.”

Students will have the opportunity to listen to speakers and performers who are leaders in business, technology and the arts. Between Tedx talks, teens are able to participate in X-Labs, where they can interact with local businesses, artists and other leaders in a safe and creative environment.

“It’s a great jumpstart,” Amaya said. “It’s a great way to come and be part of what is actually going on in this world. We have so many problems, and what is happening now is that a lot of teenagers are doing a lot [to solve] these problems. You don’t have to wait until you’re 18 to do something, you don’t have to wait until you graduate from college to do something, you just have to have that passion. So when you see these people talking in TedxYouth, it sparks [ideas], and you think ‘What if I do that?’”
Students can register for free, adults for $25 and teachers for $10 on the TedxYouth on its website
